What is NIDO?

NIDO stands for Nigerian In Diaspora Organization.  

Our mission is to promote the spirit of patriotism, networking, and cooperation among
Nigerians in the Diaspora.

Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) was established by Nigerian Professionals in
the Diaspora in response to the call by the Nigerian President that adequate information on
Nigerians abroad is required to enhance networking, empower their communities
economically, socially and politically and to develop a database of Nigerian expertise
available to contribute to Nigerian as a nation.

NIDO is currently supported by Nigerian Government, corporate bodies, and other
agencies. The Government will interact with Nigerian groups through NIDO.  

NIDO furnishes a legitimate supporting platform for Nigerians in the Diaspora or their
business associates to execute specific developmental programs with Municipal, State and
Federal Government agencies as well as private sector and educational institutions in
Nigeria.

Established in 2000, Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) in the Americas is a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. that draws resources from the synergy of all Nigerian Professionals in the Diaspora, to instill ethical consciousness and civic responsibility that will enhance the socio-economic advancement of Nigerians and humanity in general. NIDO is currently focusing on: professional networking, social advocacy, education, healthcare, technological and economic empowerment, as well as skills and cultural exchange projects. NIDO is recognized by the Nigerian government as the umbrella organization for all Nigerians in the Americas and Caribbean including their community based organizations. In 2005, NIDO established an official charitable arm for the organization.

Canada is Region 7 of Nido Americas.
