Arrival of the Diaspora Committee at the NIDO Canada Gala in 2009
World Conference Information
The NIDO Canada World Conference provides a framework for fostering bilateral dialogue and cooperation between Nigeria and Canada with regards to socioeconomic development in both countries. An initiative of NIDO Canada, the first conference, held in Toronto in April 2008, showcased Canadian and Nigerian speakers of international stature on various topics including infrastructure development education and nuclear energy – important initiatives that contribute tot the overall growth of a nation. The second conference, held in Winnipeg in May 2009, focused on energy, food and health security for both national and global prosperity.
The 3rd Annual NIDO Canada World Conference will be held from May 13-16th, 2010 in Ottawa, Canada at the prestigious Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel. The theme this year is Nigeria at 50: Building a Successful Public and Private Partnership in a Developing Economy. This year’s conference will examine Nigeria 50 years after independence and also focus on the foundations required to effectively utilize Public Private Partnerships, popularly known as 3Ps, to accelerate the achievement of the mandates of Nigeria’s Vision 2020 which include promoting stronger economic and scientific partnerships between Nigeria and other countries.
Canada is one of the leading developed nations utilizing 3Ps in achieving national and international goals. During this year’s conference, delegates will learn from both Canadian and Nigerian experts and keynote speakers on issues that relate to the implementation of 3Ps.
This year’s conference will also be an opportunity for Nigerian and Canadian businesses to showcase their product and services offerings in the form of an exhibition. Since the conference is designed to foster bilateral dialogue and cooperation, the exhibition will bring together Nigerian businesses seeking investment opportunities in and from Canada, as well as Canadian businesses looking for investment opportunities in and from Nigeria.
